Mom and Her Litter
A past Anchor P litter, a few weeks old.
Versatile Drahthaars bred to hunt hard in the field and settle in by the fire at home. Raised in the Bitterroot Valley.
Pointing, retrieving, and tracking instinct come first in every pairing.
Puppies grow up around real Montana country, sounds, and people.
A Drahthaar should be as steady in the house as it is driven in the field.
The Deutsch Drahthaar was developed in Germany as a do-it-all hunting dog. One dog that points upland birds, retrieves ducks from cold water, and tracks wounded game. Its wiry, weather-resistant coat was made for exactly the kind of country we hunt here in Montana.

Anchor P dogs are tested under the Verein Deutsch-Drahthaar, the breed's original German club. Its youth test, the Verbands-Jugend-Prüfung (VJP), scores a young dog's natural nose, search, pointing, and tracking before much formal training.
Our female is expecting, with puppies due this winter. Email us for puppy inquiries and to talk through whether this litter is the right fit for how you hunt.
Every puppy we raise carries the kennel name, v.d. Anchor P. A few from past litters:
